Surge of Paranormal Shows
by admin on Oct.09, 2009, under Shows
Over the last few years, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the recent surge of paranormal (specifically ghost related) shows that are popping up on TV. Is this solely because of the success of Ghost Hunters?
I do have to admit they’re awefully entertaining, but I feel they misrepresent how much action actually occurs at investigations. With the power of ‘editing’ it makes ghost hunting thrilling and exciting with every minute, but in reality it’s a lot of sitting and waiting. Funny, how a ghost show has to have something to provide the viewers, which always makes me think if they are some how doctored. I’ve discussed this in the past, and I believe lots of evidence or personal experiences are staged. Could be wrong… who knows.
With that said, I’m looking forward to Ghost Lab, I missed the premiere. Anyone see it? How is it? How is it different?

I agree 100% that these shows are staged.
They have to take a lot of hours of tape and video and the participants reactions and stuff it all into a 1 hour segment including comercials. I have personally gotten some very good EVP’s and think nothing of it but these shows make such a big deal over 1 EVP, it’s got to be staged.

Hello Steve
Thanks for commenting! Yeah, I wish it wasn’t the case, but I’m definitely leaning towards that direction. I sorta wish someone can convince me otherwise.

I make my living as a stand up comic but work in Hollywood and am selling a show myself. Without bad mouthing anyone,I know some people that work on those shows and if you look closely there are two that ARE NOT staging anything. (not going to mention any names but you can probably guess)
Yes the editing does misrepresent the amount of time and brains that actually go into ghost hunting but a show does have to entertain.
By the way, this is the first time I have been to your site. Love it!

Everyday Paranormal down here in Texas is pretty legit.. The others are pretty much crap, especially Paranormal State — They do that for money and its a joke.

Also, want to hear the most comical thing.. I got a group here in Texas, and I live IN a house that has paranormal activity inside of it, but yet, I think the spirit is very smart, because the only thing captured thus far is some evps. People see shadow people, a lady in white walking past the door, etc.. I’ve ran by dvr, night cams, etc and never captured any video or photo evidence.. So it makes me wonder if the spirits hate having their photos taken, or maybe they are smart enough to know what is going on and decide not to come out and play.

I just read something by Christopher Balzano and he said they were investigating one hose where they had an enormous amount of EVP activity and they caught 2 ghosts talking and a third one came in and said, “Shhh! You know they are taping you.”
hmmm….

One of my team members and I were doing some evp at a known paranormal house in Gainsville, Tx.. We had the recorder going as we were entering a room. As soon as we entered the room, a voice caught on the evp said “Not you again” which was close to a class A evp. After the “evp” the team member says “we’re back again”.. It was pretty neat. It seems as though they know what we are doing sometimes.

Wow! I think there is something going on that will break through the next level of ghost hunting. Starting to look like they know a lot more than we think
I just got something interesting in South Carolina and is sort of messed with the audio editing software. Was wondering if anyone ever had this happen before. You know the middle stable line that stays even on an audio file, it completely bows up when the ghost speaks the name “Amara”
I have a link if that description is confusing.
Any ideas what that was?
